When the natural bacteria in your mouth work to exploit healthy tooth enamel, it can lead to a tooth decay. If an area of tooth decay is not immediately treated and repaired, it can easily spread leading to other potential complications. If Dr. Taylor Robinson feels too much tooth enamel has been compromised, he might recommend restoring the tooth with a crown.

A crown is essentially a perfect replica of the enamel layer of the tooth. They are often made from either porcelain, gold or base metal alloys. The crown itself is hollow, to allow it to be anchored on a post-like abutment formed from the core structures of the tooth.

Once Dr. Taylor Robinson has removed all of the tooth enamel, he will create a detailed impression of the abutment and the surrounding teeth. This will help us create your own custom-made dental crown in the same day as your visit.

With proper care and cleaning, your newly restored tooth should last you for many years to come.

If you have a cavity, or other area of tooth decay that has gone ignored, you should contact Dr. Taylor Robinson’s office in Provo, Utah at 801-373-2060 to explore your treatment and restoration options.
